Registered Nurse – ACT Team – Full Time:  The Assertive Community Team (ACT) Psychiatric Nurse is a clinical staff member of the ACT community based multidisciplinary treatment team. Duties include: administration of injectable medications, managing Clozaril protocols, ordering of medication, overseeing processes for medication distribution, and utilizing a medication step system towards client self-management.  Assessing physical health needs, making appropriate referrals to community physicians, and
collaborating with medical providers and pharmacies.  Provide a full range of services that are culturally relevant, and recovery based. These services may occur in the home, community or office.  Service provision is designed to promote recovery by improving psychiatric symptoms, preventing relapse, teaching skills, and providing direct assistance and securing necessary community resources.  Conduct person centered comprehensive health assessments, including but not limited to, personal and family medical and
psychiatric histories, current medical needs, substance use history, and daily living skills with the purpose of linkage to and collaboration with providers in order to improve health outcomes.  Conduct BMI and AIMS assessments as recommended.  Use strength based methodologies, continually instill hope, develop and maintain trusting and supportive relationships with clients, families, other providers and the community.  This is a community-based position which includes meeting with clients in their homes, community, in addition to providing transportation to appointments.  Min qualifications include: Licensed Registered professional Nurse by NYS. Three years’ exp. in a psychiatric setting, preferred. A valid and insurable driver’s license. $76,377/annual equivalent, Monday-Friday, daytime hours.  Rotating on-call with a stipend of $210/week of on-call.  The COVID-19 vaccine and boosters are required or properly approved exemption consistent with applicable laws. 

 

Facilities ManagerWe are seeking an energetic, organized professional who will be responsible for the development and oversight of a comprehensive proactive plan to ensure that our facilities are well-maintained. Mohawk Opportunities’ facilities include 4 group homes and a main office building which are all located in Schenectady, NY.  This includes routine inspection of facilities, preventative maintenance planning, communicating with vendors, carrying out repairs, as well as delegating projects to the Maintenance Coordinator, supervising the quality of work performed. Min qual: exp in carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, contract estimating, and general property upkeep, 1 year supervisory exp, able to lift/carry 100lbs, climb a ladder higher than 3 feet, etc. In addition, must have valid and insurance driver’s license. Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm.  Salary is commensurate with experience and education. Maintenance TechnicianThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repairs of Mohawk Opportunities’ four group homes, main office building, and minor repairs as needed in the leased properties. The Maintenance Technician will monitor the physical condition of all owned properties, ensuring they are in good condition and offer our clients a safe and comfortable living environment.  In conjunction with the Facilities Manager, plan for and carry out ongoing required property maintenance including snow removal, lawn mowing, landscaping, etc. On-call for snow removal and clean-up.  Responding to requests for repairs in a timely manner using the work order system.  Respond to emergency requests as needed.  Including after hours for our 4 group homes. Min qual: exp in carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, contract estimating, and general property upkeep, able to lift/carry 100lbs, climb a ladder higher than 3 feet, etc. In addition, must have valid and insurance driver’s license. Dominion House Overnight Counselor – Full TimeProvide a safe and therapeutic environment for adults who have a psychiatric diagnosis and who are recovering in a short-term stabilization program (group home).  Duties include supportive counseling, teaching of daily living skills including medication management and coping skills, crisis intervention and prevention, and maintaining a healthy and clean environment for our clients to become independent.  Qualifications include college classes in human services, BA preferred; 6 months-1year experience in human services preferred; valid and insurable driver’s license preferred but not required. The COVID-19 vaccine is required or properly approved exemption consistent with applicable laws. 40 hours per week; $17.65/hour; $36,712/annual equivalent. Overtime is available; $26.48/overtime rate.

Sunday/Monday- 10:30PM overnight until Monday 8:30am

Monday/Tuesday- 10:30PM overnight until Tuesday 8:30am

Wednesday – off (until Wednesday night at 10:30pm)

Wednesday/Thursday- 10:30PM overnight until Thursday 8:30am

Thursday/Friday- 10:30PM overnight until Friday 8:30am

Saturday – Off

Dominion House Overnight Counselor – Part TimeProvide a safe and therapeutic environment for adults who have a psychiatric diagnosis and who are recovering in a short-term stabilization program (group home).  Duties include supportive counseling, teaching of daily living skills including medication management and coping skills, crisis intervention and prevention, and maintaining a healthy and clean environment for our clients to become independent.  Qualifications include college classes in human services, BA preferred; 6 months-1year experience in human services preferred; valid and insurable driver’s license preferred but not required. The COVID-19 vaccine and booster are required or properly approved exemption consistent with applicable laws. 21 hours per week. $17.65/hour; $19,273.80/annual equivalent. Staff retention bonus for 2022 is available, see HR for details. Overtime is available; $26.48/overtime rate.

Friday/Saturday – 10:30pm awake overnight until Saturday at 9:00am

Saturday/Sunday – 10:30pm awake overnight until Sunday at 9:00am

 

Residence Counselors–Full Time – 1574 Union St. Residence– Provide supportive counseling to adults with a psychiatric diagnosis living in a group home setting.  Duties include teaching of daily living skills including medication management and coping skills, crisis intervention and prevention, and maintaining a healthy and clean environment for our clients to become independent.  Qualifications include college classes in human services, BA preferred; demonstrated ability in helping others, valid and insurable driver’s license. $17.03/hour; $35,422.40/annual equivalent. Overtime is available in our group home setting, $25.55/overtime pay. The COVID-19 vaccine is required or properly approved exemption consistent with applicable laws.

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday – Off

Wednesday – 8:00am-6:00pm

Thursday – 1:00pm-11:00pm

Friday – 1:00pm-11:00pm

Overnight Counselor – Part Time Emmanuel House– Provide supportive counseling to adults with a psychiatric diagnosis living in a group home setting.  Duties include teaching of daily living skills including medication management and coping skills, crisis intervention and prevention, and maintaining a healthy and clean environment for our clients to become independent.  After completion of specific tasks, the employee can rest while still being available for clients if they needed something.  Qualifications include college classes in human services, BA preferred; demonstrated ability in helping others, valid and insurable driver’s license.  The COVID-19 vaccine and boosters are required or properly approved exemption consistent with applicable laws. $17.03/hour; $28,337.92/annual equivalent. Staff retention bonus for 2022 is available, see HR for details.  32 hours per week.  Overtime is available in our group home setting, $25.55/overtime pay.

Relief Counselor/Respite – Per Diem

We are looking for everyday heroes who want to make a difference in the lives of people in need!

Mohawk Opportunities, a small private, nonprofit located in Schenectady is seeking per diem (substitute) Relief Counselors to work in our four group homes. We serve adults who have a mental illness and are working on goals to transition to an independent setting. The clients we work with are very high functioning and are in the community independently. We DO NOT provide personal care and we DO NOT do physical restraints. All the services to our clients are verbal supportive counseling and teaching of daily living skills. We provide personal protective equipment and follow all CDC guidelines. You must be available for all shifts. Driver’s license is not required but preferred. Counselors must be willing to work in the group home if there is a COVID exposure. Regular rate $17.03/hour and the rate will increase to $20.03/hour if there is a COVID exposure. The COVID-19 vaccine is required or properly approved exemption consistent with applicable laws. We provide training and a supportive work environment.
