Individual Placement and Support - IPS

The Evidence-Based Practice for Employment

We are excited to announce that Mohawk Opportunities is now providing Individual Placement and Support (IPS), an evidence-based approach to helping individuals with mental health challenges find and maintain competitive employment.

What is IPS? IPS is a specialized employment service designed to support people with mental health conditions by integrating employment assistance with mental health services. It emphasizes finding competitive jobs that match the individual’s preferences and strengths, offering ongoing support to help them succeed in the workplace.
Key principles of IPS include:

  • Zero Exclusion: Everyone who wants to work is eligible for IPS, regardless of their mental health status.
Competitive Employment: The goal is to help individuals secure jobs in competitive work environments, rather than sheltered or specialized settings.

  • Integration with Mental Health Services: Employment specialists work alongside mental health professionals to provide holistic support.
Personalized Support: Each person’s job search is tailored to their individual preferences and strengths, ensuring that they are matched with opportunities suited to their goals.

  • Ongoing Support: Even after employment is obtained, IPS offers continued support to ensure long-term success.

We are proud to bring IPS to the people Mohawk Opportunities support to gain the empowerment and confidence that meaningful work provides. As we expand in the future, we’ll be able to offer new opportunities for individuals seeking IPS services.
