On May 15th, Mohawk Opportunities,Inc hosted its first Staff Development panel. Staff were joined by Human Resources Program Director, Kelley Nutter as well as Program Directors and staff that have been promoted in the past. The purpose of the panel was to give current employees who may be interested in or are looking for opportunities for advancement in their careers here at Mohawk; a space where they can learn about other programs and hear stories from employees who have been promoted. Each Program Director gave a brief overview of their programs and the jobs within those programs. Certified Apartment Program (CAP) Program Director Patti Austin as well as Care Coordination’s PD Molly Malone and Emmanuel House PD Karen Painter have all been promoted from entry-level positions in the agency. Donnie Marshall, Service coordinator for CAP joined the panel to talk about her experience after being promoted from residence counselor. Kelley talked to staff about how they see help and advice from their supervisors on how to grow and improve on the skills that are looked for when promoting a staff member. This will be the first of many panels to be hosted in the future.
